Welcome to the CASIS Request for Proposals
RFP No. 2016-001 | RFP Open Date: August 1, 2016
Notice of Intent to Respond Due: August 15, 2016 | Proposals Due: September 15, 2016
Microgravity has been used for more than 30 years to improve outcomes of crystal analyses through production of higher quality and larger crystals. To examine the readiness and requirements of this marketplace for a more commercial approach to crystallization on the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory, the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) held a subject matter expert workshop in October 2015 with experts across the field of crystallography. The mission of this workshop was to outline the basic science requirements for a long-term crystallization program onboard the ISS National Lab, including accessibility and timing, flight and ground resources, education, and funding. CASIS is harnessing the information gained from the workshop and the ongoing support of this group to implement an ISS National Lab program for repetitive, low-cost crystallization in microgravity. The program will be known as the CASIS Macromolecular Crystallization Program and will provide a platform for discovery to users across many disciplines—commercial, other government agencies, academia, and private research.
The first step of this program is the RFP for Support Services for the CASIS Macromolecular Crystallization Program. This RFP will be geared towards existing partners and potential new partners intent on providing hardware and services capable of enhancing the crystallization opportunities onboard the ISS National Laboratory for the duration of this program.
CASIS staff have developed a step-by-step process to ensure potential proposers an easy, efficient submittal process. Please follow the steps below:
